17-year-old held in fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Kent
A 17-year-old boy is being held in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy Monday at a home in Kent.
The older boy, who is being held at the King County Youth Service Center for investigation of possession of a stolen handgun, has told police that the shooting was accidental, police said. Police said the investigation will focus on whether the shooting was accidental, negligent or criminal.
Authorities have not released the identity of either teen.
Both boys were inside the suspect’s East Hill condominium when the shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m., said Kent police spokesman Paul Petersen. The 17-year-old called 911 to report the shooting. The victim, who lived in Pierce County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two teens were the only ones in the home at the time of the shooting, police said.
